Welcome to St Helens College. 

We are one of the largest further and higher education providers in the Northwest, with a proven track record of providing quality education since 1896.

St Helens College caters for students of all ages, studying at all levels. We provide courses and training to around 8,000 students across two main sites, the Town Centre Campus and the STEM Centre, Technology Campus.

St Helens College works closely with employers from across the Liverpool City Region to not only close the gap on skills but to contribute to the economic turnaround of the region. We are actively involved in the community, with local businesses and have excellent links with industry.

There is a wide range of different subjects to choose from here, so you’ll be spoilt for choice; we offer more than 40 courses! There are also opportunities to help you develop additional skills through our Enrichment & Skills Programme which offers recreational as well as competitive sports, drama, the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, Mandarin and many other activities. There are also many trips and visits throughout the year both in the UK and abroad.

Care To Learn 

The Care to Learn scheme can help with childcare costs while you study.

You must be aged under 20 at the start of your course.

The scheme is available for publicly-funded courses in England. This includes courses in:

  • schools
  • sixth-forms in schools
  • sixth-form colleges

What you'll get

You can get up to:

  • £160 per child per week if you live outside London
  • £175 per child per week if you live in London

What it covers

Care to Learn can help with the cost of:

  • your childcare, including deposit and registration fees
  • a childcare taster session for up to 5 days
  • keeping your childcare place over the summer holidays
  • taking your child to their childcare provider

Payments

Childcare payments go directly to your childcare provider.

Before they can be paid:

  • your childcare provider needs to confirm your child’s attendance
  • your school or college needs to confirm that you’re attending your course
