Where care leavers (up to 25) are not entitled to free prescriptions through the national criteria an annual prescription prepayment certificate may be applied for. This enables all prescription charges to be covered for the 12 month period.

If you live in St.Helens and there are concerns you may have a complex neurological condition (such as ADHD, ASD, Attachment or Global Development Delay), you may be referred to the Neurological Pathway service up until you are 18. Professionals will complete an assessment involved lots of different agencies and look at what support you may need.
The Community Paediatric Therapy Team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, assistant practitioners, therapy assistants and administration assistants. The services focus on children's functional or physical needs. This could be areas such as:
They provide a range of therapies – both one-to-one and group sessions – at clinics, patient homes, community centres, special and mainstream schools and nurseries in St.Helens and Knowsley.
The service is for children from birth to 19 years who live in St.Helens and Knowsley.
They have an open referral process, which means all professionals and parents or guardians can refer to the service. The referral will be triaged by a qualified member of staff and, if appropriate, will be accepted by the team and the appropriate professional allocated to the child.

The St.Helens Learning Disability Community Team service supports adults in St.Helens who have difficulties using mainstream adults' health services because of a learning disability. This could be for many reasons, such as problems communicating or problems with mobility.
The team is made up of specialist learning disability nurses, who are experts in working with people with learning disabilities, as well as occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists.
They will assess you to help us understand what is causing your issues and how we can help. Following this assessment, they will put together a care plan that meets your individual needs. This could include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychology services and psychiatry.
They can work with people in their own homes, at college, at our team base at Willis House in Whiston, or at day services across St.Helens. This may be on a one-to-one basis, in a group or by supporting family members and carers.
They also provide training for family members, carers and other professionals supporting adults with learning disabilities.

When you are a Looked After Child in St.Helens, you have a Looked After Children or School Nurse who is responsible for supporting your health needs. This service completes your annual health assessments to make sure everything is in place to support your health until you are 18.
They also complete a health passport when you are 17.
This provides you with important health information that they can obtain from your school nurse records and GP records. This passport will give you health information that you may need as an adult. In case you misplace your health passport, your GP and the local authority will hold a copy of this.
If you live outside of the St.Helens area, the Looked After Children’s Team will request your health passport from the area that you live in.
