St Helens Youth Council
St Helens Youth Council, supported by St Helens Council, enables young people of St Helens to have a voice in local decision making and to take part in projects to address the issues that affect them. The Youth Councillors have been voted to their peers in their schools to be the link between their schools, Youth Council, and the young people to enable their voices to be heard.
During their first school based Youth Council meeting, 21 councillors from 9 schools voted on what they wanted their 2019-202 Manifesto Priorities would be.
They chose -
* Campaigning to end knife crime
* Raise the profile of the Youth Council
* Listen to and work with young people across St Helens
They are currently discussing different ways on how to achieve their Manifesto Priorities, they have discussed -
* Going in to schools with a presentation
* Posters that highlight punishments or consequences.
* Working with current projects like—Daniel Fox Foundation
* Working with the Police along side a project
The Youth Council, supported by St Helens Youth Service, will work with key professionals and organisations to help honour their manifesto.
If you know a young person who would be interested in getting involved - please ask them to speak to their school council lead or use the contact details to sign up as a Virtual Member.
